How to Restore Old Photos
Discover how to digitize, denoise, and upscale vintage family photographs to modern 4K standards.
Old family photographs hold invaluable memories. But physical degradation, ancient camera lenses, and low-quality digital scanners often leave them looking blurry, grainy, and faded.
The Face Restoration Model
Standard upscaling doesn't work well for old photos because it amplifies film grain and scratches. You need an AI with a specialized "Face Restoration" pipeline. This model specifically understands human anatomy (eyes, teeth, skin texture) and can rebuild faces that are severely degraded.
The Workflow
- Scan at High DPI: Even though we can upscale, start with a good scan (at least 300 DPI).
- Upload to UltraScale: Use the Old Photo Upscaler route.
- Denoise & Enhance: The AI will automatically smooth out the scanner dust, reduce the film grain, and reconstruct faded facial features.
The result is a stunningly clear, modern-looking 4K version of a photo taken decades ago.
